sleep....perchance to dream

So tell me.
Do dreams come true?
Dreams as defined
by aspirations....and desires
do they come true?

everyday we can watch people going through
the motions of a life they chose to live
they would never admit to choosing it
"its a means to an end"
"i have to pay off my mortgage"
"i only have 1 sick day left"
"what else is there to do"
"this is reality"

is reality when we succomb to settling? when we believe that all there is in this life is work....sleep.....eat.....work. (perhaps not in that order)don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with work. i'm speaking of work in terms of those individuals who fail to be fulfilled or passionate about what they do.

why are you doing what you are doing when you loathe the idea of it.

and so i come back to dreams. when we were kids our world was endless with possibilities. if you wanted to you could dream of being a fire fighter one day and an astronaut the next. no one told you you couldn't. and so i ask you, what is the one thing that you would do or be right now.
and the next question.... what is stopping you?

the world? a probable yes. i have been discouraged. and it mostly seems to come from people i love who have no idea the hold that their words have on me.
everyone wants to do that
what are you going to do with that
and where do you think that will take you
its hard to get into that

we were not given the gift of dreams as a mere distraction from reality. no, they are there to instill hope and possibility. drive and motivation. creativity and passion. i believe that they come from the deepest part of who we are. chase them. fight for them. believe in them. believe in yourself. hmm...i write to an audience but it feels like i am just writing to myself. live and dream.

“Excellence can be obtained if you:
...care more than others think is wise;
...risk more than others think is safe;
...dream more than others think is practical;
...expect more than others think is possible.”

“Believe in your dreams and they may come true; believe in yourself and they will come true”

“Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.”

and so i leave you with this....

you gotta watch "pursuit of happyness" with will smith. always pursue your dreams. those deep passions placed in our hearts that haunt us are usually not selfish desires, especially if all others around us discourage us from them

oh by the way. i did watch 'the pursuit of happyness' and i loved it. thought they did a fabulous job expressing just that. scarey to think how much risk is actually involved though. i was talking to a friend last night and expressed how there seems to be a big gray cloud looming in the background with failure written all over it. but perhaps thats exactly what risk is.

vicky are you really an alchemist?

let me leave you with this...

"At that point in their lives, everything is clear and everything is possible. They are not afraid to dream, and to yearn for everything they would like to see happen to them in their lives. But, as time passes, a mysterious force begins to convince them that it will be impossible to realize their destiny."

"People learn, early in their lives, what is their reason for being. Maybe that is why they give up on it early too. But that is the way it is."
